Facilitating the watering and irrigation of agricultural land in Niger Delta

With Nigeria benefiting from at least 2,000 to 3,000 hours of sunshine per year,  Agrigrid is enabling the installation of solar-powered irrigation systems for the development of sustainable agriculture in the Niger Delta for Mazie farmers to be able to plant and harvest 2 cycles of Mazie, a programme aimed at empowering women.

Agrigrid programme 2CycleMazie will accelerate access to electricity and promote climate-resilient agriculture. We will train 10  maize farmers, especially women from Delta State, in the installation and use of solar water pumps to enable better use of solar in the poultry value chain, especially for irrigation, but also in the processing and preservation of maize.  We will also strengthen the capacity of women to use these technologies and to give them access to market in order to achieve social empowerment

This project on energy transition for women’s economic empowerment will reduce the cost of transportation of maize from northern Nigeria to the south and ensure the availability of raw materials for animal feed in the region.
